Lydia is currently developing her psychological horror feature A LITTLE MUSIC for Shine/Film4, with Otto Bathurst attached to direct. The script appeared on the 2014 Brit List, an industry poll of the best unproduced screenplays in the country. Her contemporary noir script NECROPOLIS also made a previous list. She is also working on an adaptation of the psychological thriller TELLING STORIES for Hillbilly Films/BBC Films, and a Chinese science-fiction adaptation for Warp Films.
For television, she is working with Hillbilly Films on POISON PILL, a corporate thriller set in the City. Her short thriller CAMOUFLAGE aired as part of Channel 4’s Coming Up season in the summer of 2012.
Lydia’s first full-length play FIXER opened at the HighTide Festival in 2009. It was revived at the Oval House in 2011 and is published by Nick Hern Books. Her second, COMPLIANCE, was written while she was Pearson playwright in residence at Paines Plough, and won the 2011 Catherine Johnson award for Best Play. Recent work includes BREAD ON THE TABLE, part of Metta Theatre’s MOUTHFUL at Trafalgar Studios, and THE FOREIGNER, a monologue for the Staffordshire New Vic’s HOARD festival. IN THIS PLACE, written for Pentabus, took place during a walk through the Shropshire hills. Other work has been performed at the Tricycle, Young Vic, Globe, and Oran Mor. She is currently under commission to write a full-length play for Birmingham Rep Theatre, and a piece based on the life of the geneticist George Price for Undercurrent/Camden People’s Theatre.
