Oliver completed a European BA Honours in International History and Politics at the University of Leeds and Uppsala Universitet in 2013, after which he began work as a researcher at BBC Factual and Praslin Pictures, before moving into sales and acquisitions at Hanway Films.

Oliver’s first television pilot, historical drama Wilton Park, was shortlisted for the Emmy-sponsored Peter Ustinov Award (2014) and won him a place on the prestigious MA Screenwriting course at the National Film and Television School.

During this time he wrote a number of short films and was selected for the 2016 Soho Theatre’s Writers’ Lab, whilst his original TV pilot, Stitching, secured him a place on the 2017 Channel 4 Screenwriting Course.

Oliver was recently shortlisted for the 2018 ITV/Red Planet Prize and is currently developing feature film The White Stork (dir. Meg Campbell) with Creative England, the BFI and BBC Films as part of their emerging talent scheme, iFeatures.
