Katie Haines

Tim Supple has created theatre throughout the UK and in Europe, North and South America, Australia, India, North Africa and the near and far East. He has worked regularly with the National Theatre and the RSC and during the 1990s he was Artistic Director of the Young Vic Theatre in London. He has been described as “the leading storyteller in British Theatre” (Financial Times). In 2005 he founded Dash Arts with Josephine Burton to create new performance in collaboration with artists from abroad. His multi-lingual A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, created in India for Dash Arts in 2006, was a world-wide success and acclaimed as ‘the most life-enhancing production of Shakespeare’s play since Peter Brook’s” (Guardian). His Arabic production of ONE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS premiered at Edinburgh International Festival in 2011 where it was hailed as “an instant classic” (Independent).

Among his adaptations for the theatre are GRIMM TALES AND MORE GRIMM TALES with Carol Ann Duffy; ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST with Dario Fo & Alan Cumming; MIDNIGHT’S CHILDREN with Salman Rushdie & Simon Reade; and TALES FROM OVID with Ted Hughes & Simon Reade.

Dash Arts theatre projects in development include a staging of the epic Iranian national poem, The Shahnameh, commissioned by the National Theatre; SOUL, part of REVOLUTION17 to be researched and created in the post Soviet States, commissioned by National Theatre, London; Lincoln Center Festival, New York; Perth Festival, Australia and Belgrade Theatre, Coventry; and the King Lear World Theatre Project a three year research and development process launched in the UK in June 2015: a worldwide series of workshops that will bring together actors from the world’s great theatre traditions and practices to evolve a multi-lingual and cross national production for a global audience.

Other current projects include COMEDY OF ERRORS (BBT, Istanbul) and IL RITORNO D’ULISSE IN PATRIA (Grange Festival)
