Jessica Hare

Head of Department

Jessica leads the Children’s Books department at The Agency, having joined the company in 2017 and taken over from Hilary Delamere in 2023. She’s been recognised by The Bookseller as one of the industry’s Rising Stars and sits on a subcommittee for the Association of Authors’ Agents.

Jessica represents established and emerging authors and illustrators across all age ranges and genres. A determined, long-term advocate for her clients, Jessica specialises in handling their publishing deals, collaborating with colleagues to manage screen and stage rights, and working creatively on manuscripts and portfolios to present to publishers.

Clare Mills

Associate: Children’s Books Department

After specialising in Children’s Literature at university, Clare held assistant roles at The Postal Museum and UNICEF, where her role included supporting the Paddington’s Postcards scheme. This made for a seamless transition to the Children’s Books Department at The Agency, which Clare joined in 2022 as an assistant to Jessica Hare and Hilary Delamere. In 2024, she was promoted to Associate, in recognition of her invaluable support to Jessica and the client list as a whole. Clare continues to work closely with Jessica on the existing client list.
