Dear Billy and its rave REVIEWS

News

Dear Billy recently started its tour and is getting some great reviews.

Written by Gary McNair, Dear Billy is a play about one of Scotland’s national treasures: Billy Connolly. The performance will feature a number of stories based on and inspired by The Big Yin’s life, with new stories being added as the show tours across its venues. Meaning no two shows will be alike.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, here’s what the critics are saying about Dear Billy:

 The Scotsman  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Dear Billy is exactly the kind of story our National Theatre should be telling”

The Arts Desk  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Celebration of Scotland’s iconic comedy legend Billy Connolly is a moving portrait of a nation.”

The Guardian  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“McNair weaves in his own tale of meeting the Big Yin, adding to the impression of a secular god who is at once charismatic and one of us. The cumulative effect is vivid, funny and poignant.”

Dear Billy is produced by the National Theatre of Scotland and plays until 24 June. Check out the trailer below:

Gary McNair is represented by Emily Hickman.
