Created and written by Francesca Brill and Luke Watson, the series stars Jill Halfpenny as Jodie, a mother still recovering from the loss of her son who went missing nine years ago.
When she encounters Daniel (Cody Molko), she is convinced he is her son. But her fixation threatens to collapse the life she’s painstakingly rebuilt as she goes to increasingly dangerous lengths in order to find out the truth about her son’s disappearance.
The show boasts a star-studded cast, with Rupert Penry-Jones as Daniel’s father, Jonas Armstrong as Jason, Jodie’s brother and Deborah Findlay as Jodie’s mother Lynn.
The Drowning is directed by Carolina Giammetta, with episodes written by Tim Dyvenor and is produced by Unstoppable Film and Television for Channel 5.
The 4-part series will play at 9pm on Channel 5 Monday 1st February – Thursday 4th February 2021.
