A new production of The Sea has been officially announced at the Theatre Royal Bath, with performances scheduled for 22 October to 7 November 2026.
Written by acclaimed British playwright Edward Bond, The Sea is widely regarded as one of his most celebrated works; a sharp, darkly comic drama set in an Edwardian seaside town. Blending farce with social satire, the play explores community, class and human resilience in the wake of tragedy.

The production will star Jennifer Saunders as the formidable Mrs Rafi, marking a major highlight of the theatre’s upcoming season. Direction comes from Jonathan Munby, promising a fresh and dynamic staging of Bond’s classic.

Tickets go on general sale from 23 February, with priority booking available earlier for members and supporters.
Further details, including casting updates and booking information, are available via the Theatre Royal Bath website.
