Baker attended film school at Los Angeles City College. During his time in Los Angeles Baker worked crew at legendary B-movie king Roger Cormans company Concorde/New Horizons as well as with John Landis on HBO serial Dream On.

Baker’s first feature film FOUR WOMEN launched to critical acclaim, being nominated for various Nordic Film Awards. He followed this up with the award-winning short film MALCOLM which was nominated for SdQ Cannes, shortlisted for the Oscars, nominated for a Swedish Academy Award and went on to win Best Nordic Short. His later credits include the Hjalmar Bergman special SWEDENHIELMS, which he directed for Swedish National Television. Baker was awarded his first TV-Kristallen nomination – the Swedish Emmy award – for his own semi-biographical mini-series, THE FAMILY BABAJOU for which he wrote one episode and directed three.

Baker has also supported the development of a cadre of filmmakers and their film projects (THE NILE HILTON PROJECT by Tarik Saleh being the most name-worthy) as part of his work as Feature Film Commissioner at the Swedish Film Institute.

Baker recently directed GLACIER (2021) the number one box office hit in Sweden which he co-produced under the Bad Flamingo production company he founded together with crime writer Camilla Läckberg and international actor Alexander Karim. Baker’s other 2021 hit which he both wrote and directed is EARTHBOUND, the first Afro-futuristic Swedish film which was broadcast by Sveriges Television.

Currently Baker is set to direct greenlit HBO Nordic series JONAS produced by Game of Thrones producer Frank Dolger, starring Alexander Karim. The series is 6 x 60 time-loop sci-fi thriller based on the critically acclaimed Swedish novel “The extraordinary tale of Jonas Paulsson’s all too sudden death.” written by Alexander Karim
