Charlie is a writer and director for stage and screen. They have most recently co-directed and starred in AS YOU LIKE IT and wrote the book and lyrics for PINOCCHIO, both for The Globe.

Their previous play, COWBOIS, a rip-roaring Western about a trans-masc cowboy, debuted at the RSC before transferring to the main stage of the Royal Court Theatre in 2024. The play was called “a delight” by the Evening Standard and received further praise from Time Out and Independent. They have also recently pitched it as their debut feature as part of The Dark Room scheme for trans filmmakers as part of the BFI Flare Festival.

Other theatre credits include I, JOAN, which rocked The Globe in 2022 to five star reviews featuring a non-binary Joan of Arc, and BITCH BOXER which won multiple awards, including the Soho Theatre Young Writers Award 2012.

They have published numerous plays and books for theatre, including ‘Monologues For Others’, to help actors outside of the mainstream find audition pieces that fit their voice. They are also a Board Trustee at Cardboard Citizens (changing the narrative of homelessness) and an Associate Artist at NSDF.

As an actor Charlie’s trodden the boards of many of the biggest and best UK stages, including as Mercutio in The Globe’s Romeo & Juliet.
