About David Lascelles

Lascelles is a film and television producer, known for producing nine episodes of the 1990s TV detective series INSPECTOR MORSE. In 2007, he was the executive producer of Geraldine Connor’s CARNIVAL MESSIAG, a theatrical project commemorating the bi-centenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act, staged at Harewood House, which was built with funds from slave trading. Following Connor’s death in 2011, Lascelles organized a memorial concert and co-founded the Geraldine Connor Foundation in 2012 to promote arts and culture. As the Earl of Harewood, he serves as the honorary lifetime president of Leeds United Football Club, a role his father began in 1961. In April 2023, Lascelles co-founded Heirs of Slavery, a group advocating for reparations for descendants of British transatlantic slavery beneficiaries, and has urged the British government and monarchy to issue a formal apology.
