In 1984 David Mamet was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS; other awards include the Joseph Jefferson award in 1974, Obie awards in 1976 and 1983; New York Drama Critics Circle awards in 1977 and 1984; an Outer Circle award in 1978; a Society of West End Theatre award in 1983; a Dramatists Guild Hall-Warriner award in 1984 and a Tony award in 1987.
