Jemma’s debut feature film KAT AND THE BAND, a teenage-led comedy-drama was produced by Boudica Films and directed by E.E. Hegarty, the film stars Ella Hunt (Cold Feet, Anna and the Apocalypse), Dougie Poynter (McFly), Katherine Kelly (Mr Selfridge) and Rufus Hound.
The film won Best UK Feature at the Idlewild Festival 2020 and was the closing night film at London Independent Film Festival.
Jemma was recently awarded a grant from the Wellcome Trust to develop a project set within a sexual health clinic. The pilot explores an often ignored but politically urgent area of public health.
Jemma started her career in casting at THE BILL and, having read numerous scripts, decided to give it a go herself. She attended the prestigious Screenwriting Course at the National Film and Television School. After graduating, she wrote the short film TATTOO which was nominated for a BAFTA.
Jemma has developed TV series with Hat Trick, Baby Cow, and Working Title TV. She wrote and directed the pilot CANDICE NICE, a teen web series.
