About Lindy Heymann

Lindy is an award-winning Film & TV Director whose work spans Film, Television, Documentary & Music Video. Most recently she directed three episodes of the hit Netflix show STAY CLOSE which went reigned Number 1 on the streamer’s Top 10 List in 71 countries for several weeks.

She co-wrote and directed her first feature film, SHOWBOY which follows Christian trying to become a Showboy in Las Vegas. It premiered at the LA Film Festival and was released theatrically in the US. SHOWBOY won a BIFA for Best Debut Feature and Best Film at Milan Independent Film Festival. Lindy directed her second feature film KICKS which was nominated for the prestigious Michael Powell Award at Edinburgh And won 2 Trailblazer awards.

Lindy co-wrote & directed the short film, THE LAUGHING KING starring Colin Morgan (HUMANS, MERLIN) which touches on the subject of male suicide. It premiered at the LSFF where Lindy was nominated for Best Female Director. Released online, the film is being used to raise funds for the mental health charity CALM and has reached an international audience.

She adapted I TOLD MY MUM I WAS GOING ON AN RE TRIP for BBC 2, a frank, funny & moving adaptation of the verbatim theatre production. It features four young actresses who play multiple roles including Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (from Derry Girls). It garnered critical acclaim for highlighting the subject of abortion and it has screened at multiple festivals including Toronto’s Hot Docs.

Lindy has two projects in development, a feature film 4REAL about Richie from The Manics written by Thomas Martin, and a Victorian drama she has developed with Leigh Campbell & Hurricane Films. Additionally, she has directed over 100 music videos with bands and artists including Take That, Suede, The Charlatans, Faithless, Chase & Status, The Specials, Paul McCartney, John Lydon, Imelda May, and Amy Macdonald amongst others.

BAFTA recently selected Lindy for Elevate – an initiative promoting talented female directors to the wider industry.
