Lydia Rynne is an award-winning screenwriter and graduate of the NFTS, originally from Bournemouth. Lydia received the Funny Women Writing Award for her teen pilot LIVING WILD and her most recent pilot script BETH VS DEATH won the BAFTA Rocliffe Children Family & YA Media competition in 2023, where it was showcased by Bridgerton’s Charithra Chandran.

Another pilot, A TRUE CRIME STORY (co-written with Joseph Baker), featured on The Brit List and is in development with Various Artists Limited. Lydia enjoys writing for animation as well as live action; she has received an animation pilot commission from Ubisoft Film & TV, was on the writing team for the 2021 Emmy-winning VR family animation MADRID NOIR and has just been in a writers’ room for an original animated series.

Most recently, Lydia (alongside Emma Pritchard) has been selected to develop a high-end original television drama – RIPTIDE – with 5Acts, as part of the ScreenSkills Regional Writers Scheme. She is also adapting a book series for Zodiak/BBC, working on another adaptation for Magic Light Pictures, and will be in the upcoming writers’ room for THE DUMPING GROUND.

Lydia began her career in theatre, working in script development in the West End. An alumnus of the Royal Court and Soho Theatre writers’ groups, her first play HEAR ME HOWL was a Time Out Top Pick of VAULT Festival and was described by The Stage as ‘brutally funny and refreshing.’
