Matthew is a Welsh screenwriter living in Los Angeles and London. He studied History and Politics at Warwick University. Matthew works on both sides of the Atlantic, with original projects and adaptations in production and development with multiple networks and studios, including HBO, BBC, Fifth Season and Netflix.
His original drama, THE GUEST for BBC One / Showtime, aired in 2025. The Financial Times called it “a gripping gothic tale of rich and poor.” In 2026, Matthew won the BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Writer for his series THE GUEST. The series was nominated for a total of 5 BAFTAs including Best Series, and also won the award for Best Actress.
MEN UP, airing in 2023 on BBC One, won Matthew the award for Best Writer at the BAFTA Cymru Awards, RTS Wales Award for Best Drama, Best Feature at the Banff World Media Festival, the C21 International Drama Award, and was nominated for a Broadcast Award and the RTS Best Single Drama Award. An alumni of the BBC Writers’ Academy, Matthew’s previous credits include INDUSTRY, CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA, DEATH IN PARADISE, BANANA and STELLA.
Matthew started his career writing across numerous continuing dramas including multiple episodes of EASTENDERS, HOLBY CITY and CASUALTY, for which he penned the 30th Anniversary episode and RTS Award Winning Episode.
His series THE TRIAL OF LOUISE WOODWARD for HBO started filming in 2026.
