Mydd Pharo is a leading Set and Costume Designer and Director whose work spans traditional indoor stages and large-scale, site-specific and site-responsive performance. Renowned for his arresting visual language and emotionally resonant design, Mydd brings a sculptural sensibility and deep narrative intuition to every space he works with—transforming environments into poetic, emotionally charged worlds layered with meaning and metaphor. 

Equally at home in theatres and in wild, weathered landscapes, Mydd’s practice pushes the boundaries of form through immersive, site-specific and site-responsive work that blends theatre, installation, and ritual. His creations are visually driven, politically urgent, and unapologetically imaginative—speaking across time and discipline, and often drawing audiences into spaces where myth, memory, and contemporary life intersect. 

As a neurodiverse LGBTQIA+ artist from a working-class background, Mydd brings a bold, intersectional perspective that challenges dominant narratives and expands the ways stories can be told—one attuned to complexity, difference, and the imaginative potential of the margins. 

Mydd has designed and directed works for: WildWorks, Kneehigh Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, The Royal Court, Punchdrunk, 14–18 NOW, National Theatre, National Theatre Wales, National Theatre Scotland, Battersea Arts Centre, Lyric Hammersmith, Young Vic, Paines Plough, Theatre Royal Stratford East, National Trust, and The Eden Project. He also regularly leads workshops for theatres, festivals, universities, and organisations across the UK and internationally.
