Paul Abbott is a BAFTA and Emmy award-winning series creator, television writer, and producer. Abbott has become one of the most critically and commercially successful television writers working in Britain today.
Paul’s television writing career started on Coronation Street during which he also co-created the drama series CHILDREN’S WARD with Kay Mellor. Following this he created and wrote many the drama serials including RECKLESS, BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, TOUCHING EVIL and BUTTERFLY COLLECTORS, the award winning series CLOCKING OFF, THE SECRET WORLD OF MICHAEL FRY, LINDA GREEN and ALIBI.
In 2003, he wrote the 6-part STATE OF PLAY for the BBC directed by David Yates. This was later made into a Hollywood movie starring Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren. He then created the multi award winning semi-autobiographical SHAMELESS, which ran for 11 series in the UK, followed by the US version starring William H Macy as Frank Gallagher.
In 2008 Paul established his production and development company AbbottVision through which Paul has created several award winning dramas including EXILE starring John Simm and Jim Broadbent and HIT AND MISS for Sky Atlantic starring Chloë Sevigny. He also created and wrote 3 series of NO OFFENCE for Ch.4 and WOLFE for Sky One.
