Peter is currently working on RETURN TO PARADISE  – a new Australian spin-off of DEATH IN PARADISE. Created and executive produced by Peter Mattessi, James Hall & Robert Thorogood, Lead writer Peter Mattessi. Produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia with Red Planet Pictures for ABC in association with the BBC.

He has original series in development in three countries — MARTY & MAE with Element 8 in the US, POKER FACE with Mogul Screen in the UK, and LATE with Truce Films in Australia. He was Co-Executive Producer on the second series of MS FISHER’S MODERN MURDER MYSTERIES for Every Cloud and Acorn, as well as Story Consultant and Core Writer on THE HEIGHTS, a 30x drama over two series for the ABC in Australia and BBC One in the UK. He has been nominated for the Australian Writers’ Guild Award for Serial Drama six times, winning it three times.

Peter is also a core writer on EASTENDERS, for which he was nominated for a Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Award in 2019, and wrote for HOLBY CITY, for which his episode “Rocket Man” won the Writers Guild of Great Britain Best Long Running TV Series Award in 2018.

Peter moved to London in 2008 and became series script producer on EASTENDERS before moving to spin-off show E20, which he worked on for two series. Peter was a key contributing writer on NEIGHBOURS for many years, and also worked as a Development Producer for FremantleMedia Australia, creating and developing new programs and formats across drama, comedy, factual and reality. His children’s television credits include WORST YEAR OF MY LIFE – AGAIN! for ABC/CBBC and three episodes of SPECKY MAGEE for the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.
