Sam Brain is a British/Filipina filmmaker based in London.

Sam began her career in creative development, during which a highlight was working as a Development Executive on the Cate Blanchett-backed ‘The Writers Lab’ for female screenwriters over 40.

Sam produced Oscar-longlisted short ‘for people in trouble’, which premiered at Tribeca and was executive produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. It is currently streaming on Disney+.

As a writer and director, Sam’s short films have won multiple festival awards and screened at BAFTA, BIFA and Oscar qualifying festivals around the world, notably Manchester International Film Festival and Aesthetica.

Her most recent short, ‘Last Minute’, premiered at the 70th BFI London Film Festival.

Sam continues to develop themes of unusual relationships in her work, with particular interests in connection across divides, journeying, and healing.
