Sarah Clift

Sarah is a writer director from the UK. She is currently working on her feature film TWO OLD MAIDS, which was selected as one of the twelve projects in the 2019/20 iFeatures development programme and is currently in development with the BFI and BFI Vision Award-winning producers Pietro Greppi and Serena Armitage. Sarah’s latest short films THE BIRTH OF VALERIE VENUS was long-listed for a 2021 BAFTA and she is also developing her other short LITTLE THINGS and is writing another feature IN DEPENDENCE, as well as developing ideas for television.

A creative and visionary writer and director, Sarah Clift’s background is in writing award-winning advertisement campaigns in London agencies, including work for brands such as Adidas and McDonalds as well as directing important government commercials. Sarah made a bold move to directing film and her debut short La Madre Buena arose to immediate worldwide acclaim, screening at Academy and BAFTA recognized film festivals and receiving 38 wins and nominations. Her clear vision and strong unique voice has been noticed by film festivals and audiences around the world. She has been voted Best Writer of the year, Best New International Director, BIFA Longlisted, and has screened work at venues including the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and the House of Commons London. Sarah is currently developing several short and long format projects focusing on unique stories with strong female characters in leading roles. Sarah was selected from over 500 applicants as one of the BFI CONNECT @ London Film Festival 2018 alumni for filmmakers breaking boundaries for their upcoming debut feature films.
