Sally Wainwright was awarded this year’s Judges’ award as “A writer of outstanding distinction”. She also picked up the Best Drama Writer and Best Drama Series awards for her smash hit Happy Valley, which the judges named the “masterclass”. Series 2 of the series produced by Red Production Company and starring Sarah Lancashire as police sergeant Catherine Cawood, aired last year on BBC One.
