THE RESPONDER Receives Critical Acclaim

TV

Five star reviews are pouring in for The Responder, the new BBC1 series written and created by Tony Schumacher!

The Guardian gave the series five stars, saying, “The script (the first original work for the screen by Tony Schumacher, a former police officer) is an astoundingly tough, vigorous, sinewy thing without a wasted word or moment. Freeman – who must have fallen on it like a hungry dog – does every bit of it justice. Carson is a man comprising layers of rage, suffering and despair, and Freeman slowly illuminates each one; he will surely win awards for his performance.”

David Craig of The Radio Times said, “The Responder is a sophisticated look at modern police work, introducing an engrossing character to examine how the system simply isn’t working for everyone. This could very well be a career-changing role for Freeman, who rises 犀利士 to the challenge of darker material, as well as having the potential to catapult several new faces to stardom. The Responder cast deserves all the recognition they will inevitably get, as does Schumacher, who immediately establishes himself as a creative voice to watch out for. Indeed, that he could make this genre cynic fall in love with a cop drama suggests that he might even be a miracle worker.”

On January 24th, BBC One premiered the new series, which stars Martin Freeman as a Police officer struggling with his mental health. The 5-part series will air over the next two weeks.
