Tommy (they/them) came to intimacy direction through their extensive experience in developing safer spaces in the arts and their commitment to embodied practice. As a Jewish queer nonbinary person, Tommy is especially passionate about developing and supporting intimate queer content that expands the representation of queer relationships and marginalised identities. Their practice approaches intimacy direction through a radical, queer, sex-worker informed lens and has been supported by Arts Council England, having been awarded the Developing Your Creative Practice grant to look specifically at intimacy in performance.
As an Intimacy Director, Tommy has worked across stage and screen with BAFTA nominated filmmakers, Sundance Winners and Academy Award nominees. They are a BECTU IC Registry Level 2 Intimacy Coordinator and former chair of the IC BECTU branch.

“This is a remarkable piece of intimacy direction from Tommy Ross-Williams, who was able to build upon the chemistry the two actors shared to create something truly beautiful” – Broadway World
Tender

Glass Menagerie
“This is a beautiful cast… especially captivating in their chemistry with each other. The push and pull in Anthony Missen’s exciting movement direction and the sensitivity and strength of Tommy Ross-Williams’ intimacy direction both enhance… their stymied attempts to love each other despite everything” – Northwest End
