Amelia Giudici is a children’s writer and primary school teacher based in East London.
It was through reading with her class that she fell back in love with the magic of children’s literature. She saw how, without that first spark, children are quick to disconnect from a book. But, if hooked, they enter the story with an unyielding empathy, furnishing it with a unique imaginative vibrancy. It was the thrill of recognising this that pushed her to write her own middle-grade adventures.
Prior to teaching, Amelia studied Philosophy at Cambridge University, worked as a freelance researcher on projects for UNICEF and WWF, and as a Project Development Officer for an NGO based in Madagascar
Amelia’s debut novel, ANYA AND THE LIGHT ABOVE THE OCEAN, which was acquired by Andersen Press in a two-book deal, published in February 2026, and has been praised by The Bookseller as “a thought-provoking, metaphysical treat” and by Waterstones as “A luminous, page-turning adventure with a sci-fi twist”.
