About Helen Stephens

Helen Stephens is the award-winning illustrator of the titles including the HOW TO HIDE A LION series, FLEABAG and SAVING MR HOOT (Alison Green Books/Scholastic). She has written and illustrated many books for babies and toddlers for the Campbell/Macmillan list and picture books for Random House, Simon and Schuster, David Fickling Books, Nosy Crow and Egmont. Helen’s latest title, SMELLY PEGGY (Walker) is a hilarious and warm-hearted ode to family pets.

Her books have won many awards and been shortlisted for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and The Red House Children’s Book Awards. HOW TO HIDE A LION has been adapted for stage by The Polka Theatre. Helen has also provided illustrations for TEN-WORD TINY TALES (Walker), written by Waterstones’ Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho, with each ten-word tale illustrated by a different incredible illustrator, and illustrated DREW, MOO AND BUNNY TOO  (Walker) written by Owen Sheers.
