James Smythe is an award-winning novelist and screenwriter. He is known for the Australia Trilogy, THE EXPLORER series, NO HARM CAN COME TO A GOOD MAN, THE TESTIMONY and others. James has written on an episode of VIGIL Series 2, two episodes of THE LAST KINGDOM Series 5, and two episodes of the Apple show IF THEN for Heyday.
His most recent novel I STILL DREAM is under option to Carnival for television, with James adapting it himself. He is also working with Clerkenwell Films on a new version of Nigel Kneale’s TV classic THE STONE TAPE. THE TESTIMONY and THE EXPLORER are both also under option and in development.
James has original TV projects with Kudos, World, and Carnival. His original pilot script THE GARDEN was developed with EOne, and with Matt Charman as Executive Producer. Among other projects he has written screenplays for Sony, Studio 8 and Addictive Pictures.
James is represented in the US by Jeff Silver at Grandview Management. He is represented as a novelist by Sam Copeland at Rogers, Coleridge and White.
