About Jane Ray

Jane Ray is an illustrator and author who has worked with a variety of publishers, but is best known for her distinctive children’s book illustrations. As well as writing and illustrating her own stories, she has worked with authors including Michael Rosen, Vikram Seth, Carol Ann Duffy and Jeanette Winterson. She has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal.

Jane has worked on a fabulous range of projects including THE ELEPHANT’S GARDEN (Boxer Books), THE GLASSMAKER’S DAUGHTER (Frances Lincoln), written by Dianne Hofmeyr and illustrated the GUARDIAN ANGELS series (Macmillan), featuring four titles written by Lucinda Riley and Harry Whittaker. Jane has illustrated works by Sita Brahmachari including COREY’S ROCK(Otter-Barry Books) and SWALLOW’S KISS (Pop-Up Projects) which was chosen by the Southbank Literature Festival and Good Chance Theatre to be the welcome story for the theatre’s Little Amal- The Walk project.

Jane has also exquisitely illustrated retellings of Shakespeare’s plays, in a series published by Walker Books in association with Shakespeare’s Globe, including THE TEMPEST, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and TWELFTH NIGHT retold by Georghia Ellinas.
