Terrance Dicks (1935 – 2019) was a writer, script editor and author. He is best known as one of the original writers on the BBC classic television series Dr Who. Following the phenomenal success of the TV series, a range of novels was launched and Terrance was a key author writing 64 Target novels from his first commission in 1973 to his last, published in 1990.

In addition to his contribution to Dr Who, Terrance has over the years written many novels for children including The Pyramid Incident, The Transylvanian Incident (Piccadilly Press) and The Sarah Jane Adventures  (BBC Children’s Books).

The Essential Terrance Dicks collection published from BBC Books in 2021. This two-volume celebration of Terrance’s best novels, as chosen by fans, includes forewords by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Robert Webb.
