Rob Williams is a British writer, creator and executive producer, and a former Creative Director at Penguin Books.
He began his television career after training at the BBC Writers’ Academy in 2008–09, where he secured his first commission on DOCTORS (BBC One). He went on to build extensive experience across major UK dramas, writing for EASTENDERS (BBC One), CASUALTY (BBC One), HOLBY CITY (BBC One) and DCI BANKS (ITV), before contributing to the award-winning KILLING EVE (BBC America), starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. He then worked internationally on THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE (Amazon Prime Video), a widely praised adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s novel.
As a creator and showrunner, Williams wrote CHASING SHADOWS (ITV), starring Reece Shearsmith, Alex Kingston and Adjoa Andoh, and later created and wrote the BBC One limited series THE VICTIM, featuring Kelly Macdonald and John Hannah, which received widespread critical and audience acclaim.
His recent work includes creating and showrunning SUSPICION (Apple TV+), starring Uma Thurman, and two series of the acclaimed prison drama SCREW (Channel 4), led by Nina Sosanya and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell.
Rob’s latest television drama, THE WITNESS, a bold retelling of the brutal 1992 murder of Rachel Nickell and the impact on her two-year-old son and sole witness Alexander Louis Hamscombe, is available to watch on Netflix.
