Children's Books News

The Butterfly Assassin by Finn Longman has been announced the winner of the Young Adult Category at the Sheffield Children’s Book Award 2023.

Sheffield Children’s Book Award was launched in 1988 to encourage children and young people to read, and to highlight the best literature published each year. The awards celebrate books and what they do for the Sheffield Community. Hundreds of children from across the city take part every year by voting for their favourite book through local schools and libraries.

The Butterfly Assassin (Simon & Schuster), the first title in Finn Longman’s thrilling YA trilogy, follows teen assassin Isabel Ryans’ attempts to live a normal life in a city ruled by killers. Praised as “an immersive, fast-paced thriller” by the Irish Times and “a dark, enthralling […] compulsive debut” by The Guardian, The Butterfly Assassin also won the Silver award at the Amazing Book Awards 2023.

The second book in the trilogy, The Hummingbird Killer, is out now. The third and final book in the series, Moth to a Flame, is due to publish in May 2024.
