The Reckoning, a factual drama about the life and crimes of Jimmy Savile, has aired on BBC One.
The series is partially based on Dan Davies’ book In Plain Sight: The Life and Lies of Jimmy Savile, in which he chronicles his experience interviewing Jimmy Savile over a period of seven years. Following Savile’s death, Davies spent two and a half years interviewing scores of people, leading him to discover that his instincts were right all along and behind the mask lay a hideous truth.
The BBC series covers Savile’s career from the early 1960s to his death in 2011, and examines the sexual abuse crimes he committed without being prosecuted during his lifetime. Dan Davies is a leading character in the drama, and Saville is portrayed by Steeve Coogan.
