WITHNAIL AND I – Review Roundup “Manic fun… Spot on.”

News Theatre

This week, Birmingham Rep presented the premiere of a new stage adaptation by Bruce Robinson of the iconic comedy Withnail and I. Regarded as one of the finest British films ever made, this Rep Original comedy is written by its original creator, the legendary Bruce Robinson (The Killing Fields, How to Get Ahead in Advertising, Jennifer 8), and directed by The Rep’s Artistic Director, double Olivier award-winner, Sean Foley (The Play What I Wrote, The Ladykillers, Upstart Crow) . The production is designed by Alice Power (Upstart Crow, The Miser, Ducktastic).

This stage adaptation brings to life the classic dialogue, the insane situations, and above all the boozy, irresistibly hilarious relationship of one of the most famous slacker duos ever created. The cast includes: Adonis Siddique (The Crown Jewels, East is East, Very Special Guest Star) as Marwood, BAFTA-nominated Robert Sheehan (Misfits, The Red Riding Trilogy, The Wars of the Roses) as Withnail and Malcolm Sinclair (Dear Octopus, As You Like It, Andor) as Uncle Monty.

The production will be running until Saturday 25th May at The Birmingham Rep.
