Ita began her career in directing factual entertainment shows like Would like to meet, Grand Designs Abroad, A Place in the Sun and Property Ladder.  Soon after she moved in working in commercials and into the drama space creating her award winning short film TMI. https://www.itafitzgerald.work/tmi-short-film

In 2020 Ita got accepted on to the Director UK training scheme for the BBC soap, Doctors. She shot 6 blocks consecutively, directing 18 episodes in total.

Most recently, Ita’s first feature, West the Road, was optioned by Stigma Films in 2022 and is now fully funded, in part by Netflix, and she will begin shooting in late 2024. Imelda Staunton, Eileen Walsh, Charlie Murphy, Hannah Waddingham and Siobhan McSweeney are attached to star.’
