Izzy Tennyson’s work encompasses playwriting, screen-writing, stand-up comedy, poetry and performing her own autobiographical work.
She won the Ideastap/Underbelly award with the debut solo show ‘BRUTE’ with had a sell out run at the Edinburgh fringe festival 2015. Along with receiving many 4 to 5 star reviews, BRUTE was nominated a FRINGE FIRST and was a Sunday Times and the Guardian Pick of the Fringe and went on to a London run at Soho Theatre for their Soho Rising Season.
‘Career boy’ a TV web series co-written and starring Izzy premiered at the London Raindance Festival 2015 and was shortlisted for several of their awards.
Izzy’s work also featured in BAFTA award winning Penny Woolcock’s ‘Utopia’, a multimedia immersive installation which was the summer’s main show at London’s Camden Roundhouse in 2015.
Izzy is a resident artist at the London’s Camden Roundhouse, awarded after winning third prize in the Roundhouse’s 2014 Poetry Slam. Izzy went on to perform her work at one of the UK’s top festivals, Bestival, and as a curtain-raiser for Kate Tempest’s ‘Hopelessly Devoted’ with the Roundhouse Collective, and has supported Bryony Kimining’s at Scottee’s Fraff Night. She has performed stand-up with the Soho Theatre Comedy Lab and took her act to the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe Festival as part of Rooke, Woods and Tennyson. Izzy as contributed work to Roundabout by award winning theatre company Paines Plough, Chris Goode’s ‘Apathy’ and St.James Theatre RE:ACT.
Izzy has also written with the Almeida Theatre Latitude Show as well as working with Viv Franzmann at the Lyric Hammersmith Young Writers, and has been selected to compete for the Soho Theatre Young Writers Award. She is currently developing her new play RUNTS with director Juliet Knight (DV8, national youth theatre).
