A revival of Charlie Josephine’s BITCH BOXER comes to Watford Palace Theatre

News

It has been announced that a revival of Charlie Josephine’s debut play BITCH BOXER will be a part of Watford Palace Theatre’s new season. The revival will run in 2025 from 28th February to 10th March.

BITCH BOXER debuted at Edinburgh Fringe 2012, and went on to do two National Tours, two runs at London’s Soho Theatre, another Edinburgh run as part of the British Council Showcase, and an International Tour. The play follows Chloe, 21 from Leytonstone. She likes the simple things in life: cherry sambuca, hairbrush-in-the-mirror karaoke with Rihanna and winding her Dad up. 2012 in Britain was the year of the Olympics, and for the first time in history, women were allowed to compete in the sport of boxing. As one woman trains for the fight of her life – a chance to represent her country in the sport she loves – she is left winded by two life-changing events. In a man’s world, can she still prove she’s worth the title?

The play won The Soho Theatre Young Writers Award 2012, the Old Vic New Voices Edinburgh Season 2012, the Holden Street Theatre’s Award 2013, and the Adelaide Fringe Award 2014. And was later developed as a feature with BBC Films.
