Karla Marie Sweet’s brilliant Police Drama, Da Silva and Sharp, has been featured on the 2023 Brit List.
The Brit List is a showcase for emerging UK screenwriters that has been running since 2007. UK Film & TV companies are invited to recommend the best unproduced scripts they have seen in the past year and if a script receives the minimum number of recommendations, it will be featured on the Brit List.
Da Silva and Sharp received thirteen recommendations. The hilarious drama follows City cop DS Melanie Sharp who moves to Saltney-On-Sea, a tiny town on the Welsh and English border, after being hired as maternity cover for local detective Portia DaSilva. But when Portia returns from leave to find Mel has stuck around, she can’t help feeling like she’s trying to take her place. As animosity grows between the two women, their boss partners them up to solve a massive local case.
Writers who appear on The Brit List are also invited to take part in a yearlong programme of seminars where they are able to meet and hear from commissions from both the UK and US, showrunners, directors and producers.
